Grades 2–5

Carol Choir is an auditioned performing choir. Singers:

  • sing in unison and in simple two-part harmony
  • practice singing basics: proper breathing, posture, tone, diction, healthy vocal production
  • develop choral disciplines such as following instructions, watching the director, and choir etiquette
  • participate in small group musicianship classes to develop music reading skills
  • develop the skill of guided at-home practice assignments to build vocal strength and health
  • learn age-appropriate music including rounds, simple melodies, hymns, and songs from around the world and across time
  • sing in concerts with joyful, expressive, and worshipful excellence
  • develop understanding of singing as worship to God and as service to the church and community

Duration

Late August through early May with a break in December and one early June concert

Time

Tuesdays from 6:15 – 7:30 p.m.

20-30 minutes of weekly at home practice

Tuition

Six installments of $64 + registration and uniform fees, as well as participation in two whole choir fundraisers

Tuition Assistance is available. MCCL desires for all singers to participate in choir and works creatively with each family if finances are a barrier.

Choir is a lot of fun! You learn other languages because many of the songs we sing are from other places around the world. You also make new friends.”
