Seven MCCL singers recently participated in the Elementary and Junior High/Middle School National Honor Choirs hosted by the American Choral Directors Association. Singers Joelyn Blessing, Ava Bird, Micah Carlson, Delaney Lewis, Gavin Shenk, Michael Shoff, and Miranda Veras auditioned for the highly selective ensembles last fall. After being chosen to participate, they were given a diverse and challenging set of repertoire to learn independently before joining hundreds of other dedicated singers in Cincinnati, Ohio, at the end of February.

The singers worked with world-class choral directors Andrea Ramsey (Junior High/Middle School) and Fernando Malvar-Ruiz (Elementary), rehearsing intensely for a total of nearly 15 hours over three days. Singers in both Honor Choirs collaborated with professional instrumentalists, and also had opportunities to get to know new friends from all across the US! One singer commented that he “loved working with the conductor and meeting other students from across the country, and felt more connected to kids at MCCL!” The incredible musical experience culminated in a stellar performance at the gorgeous Cincinnati Music Hall for an audience of over a thousand.
