In early December, MCCL presented its Christmas concert series, Gather at the Manger, to full audiences at Neffsville Mennonite Church and First United Methodist Church.

Featuring music from across cultures and centuries, the program invited listeners to imagine the many characters—both animals and people—who gathered at the manger to witness the birth of Jesus. Three MCCL singers in elementary, middle, and high school, representing diverse churches, schools, and denominations, welcomed guests and set the stage for this powerful image of gathering at the manger today.

Throughout the concert, middle school narrators guided the audience through the unfolding story of Christ’s birth. Local professional guest instrumentalists joined the singers on cello, flute, oboe, guitar, trumpet, and percussion, adding depth and beauty to the musical storytelling. The experience offered a meaningful and inspiring beginning to the Advent season, drawing the community together in celebration, worship, and reflection.

Yesterday was truly more than a performance – it was an incredibly uplifting experience!  The selections all fit beautifully into the theme of “Gather at the Manger.” There was so much variety in styles. The student speakers were so polished and sincere. The quality of tone and blend in all choirs, the VOWELS and overall diction – just WONDERFUL!” – concert attendee

That was a truly wonderful Christmas concert.  I’ve been physically and mentally exhausted, and sitting there, letting the music wash over me, was literally healing.  Thank you. ” – concert attendee
